Forced hiatus?!?!

Ok, nevermind on the haul post that was supposed to come after my Week 13 post. I went to upload the pictures and was told I was out of picture storage space and I would have to purchase more...um, wha? I haven't seen anyone talk about this. Have you? Anyone out there have this issue yet? Please let me know! I don't have the money right now to buy more storage so I will either have to wait until the first (which would suck!) or do some Googleing to figure out if there a fix for this. So I guess I am taking a forced hiatus for now. =(

Don't forget about my giveaway, it ends on Saturday, 3/31/12! Enter here!

****EDIT****
From Google:

  • Picasa Web provides 1 GB for photos and videos. Files under certain sizes don't count towards this limit. This limit applies to photos uploaded to Picasa Web Albums and photos uploaded at original size to Google+ from the Picasa 3.9 software.
  • Google+ provides unlimited storage for photos uploaded in Google+, which are automatically resized to 2048 pixels. Videos up to 15 minutes in length are also free.

Free storage limits (if you have signed up for Google+)

Photos up to 2048 x 2048 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won't count towards your free storage.

Automatic resizing

All photos uploaded in Google+ will be automatically resized to 2048 pixels (on their longest edge) and won't count towards your free storage quota.
All photos uploaded from the Picasa software or in Picasa Web Albums over the free size limit will count towards your 1 GB of free storage. When you reach your storage limit, any new photos you upload larger than the free size limit will be automatically resized to 2048 pixels (on their longest edge).

Free storage limits (if you HAVEN'T signed up for Google+)

Photos up to 800 x 800 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won't count towards your free storage.

Automatic resizing

All photos uploaded over the free size limit will count towards your 1 GB of free storage. When you reach your storage limit, any new photos you upload to Picasa Web larger than the free size limit will be automatically resized to 800 pixels (on their longest edge).

  2. Thanks, that info helped. The prices are different now. I read something about joining Google+ so I did and I think it will let me upload a bit more now but I'll still have to pay for an upgrade soon.@Miss Vee's Nails

  5. Have you considered Flickr? http://www.flickr.com/help/limits/
They allow 300mb worth photos each calendar month, so given if your picture sizes are 2048 x 2048 pixels and the resolution is 72 DPI @ high quality.. the pic file size would be 500-600 kb (1024 kb = 1 mb size).

BUT if you're going for maximum quality (less compression) on 2048 x 2048 px with resolution of 72 DPI, then the pic file size 3-4 mb. I hope this helps you out, it's blasphemy to pay for photo storage! Unless you work as a photographer lol (sorry had to delete comment b/c of typo and wanted to add additional info)
