I was sent the Influenster Summer VoxBox for review. The Summer VoxBox contained a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Sik Hydration Lotion Sunscreen, Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Red-y Response, Sally Hansen Nails & Cuticles Hand Creme 24 HR Moisture, Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner, Always Tampax Radiant Collection, and a Quaker Banana Nut Bread flavor Soft Baked Bar.
First up, the Quaker Banana Nut Bread Soft Baked Bar. Yum! I was shocked at how much the people at Quaker were able to nail the Banana Nut Bread flavor. I got one bite of this before the hubs snatched it and ran off. I guess that means I'll have to buy more, huh?
Next up is Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. I tried this and it worked okay. It has a light floral scent to it which I didn't really care for, I'm a fruity shampoo/conditioner girl myself. I passed these on over to my two oldest daughter who loved it and fought over the sample bottles. Each blames the other for finishing them off. guess that means I'll have to scoop some new one up next time I hit the store. My oldest daughter occasionally suffers from dry scalp and this shampoo and conditioner work get for her.
Okay, now the awkward one. The Always/Tampax Radiant Collection. This came with: one purse (satin-like and very cool & discreet), 1 scented pad (I totally didn't notice a scent but honesty I didn't purposefully sniff it either - pad was okay not anything really special), 3 unscented daily liners (LOVED these - totally FORGOT they were there, so comfortable!), and 2 unscented tampons (ugh!). Okay, I should probably explain the "ugh." I use both tampons and pads depending on the situation. I absolutely loathed these tampons. The were very uncomfortable to wear, I don't like the plastic applicator it came with it was also very uncomfortable and to top it off they leaked...badly. I discovered that unlike some other tampon brands, these are made of a flat piece of cotton (or whatever) that's folded up accordion-style with the string sticking out the bottom middle. So when you get it wet (or whatever) it unravels into a flat pad. I'll definitely be keeping my generic store brand tampons, they are cheap, comfortable, and effective. As for the pads, I could give or take those, so I'll probably stay with my Always or the generic store brand of Always. I would recommend the liners though if you use them, but that's about it.
Alrighty, awkwardness over and onto the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen. I love this! My mother used to use Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil when I was younger. I loved the smell! Coconut-y deliciousness! This lotion was silky and light. I could hardly tell it was on because it wasn't thick or greasy. I even put it on the baby when we were at the coast a few weeks ago. The only thing that I wish is that it came with a higher SPF than 30. I am redhead
Next up, Sally Hansen Nails & Cuticles Hand Creme. First a little back story...I used to work at a local hospital as a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) where I washed my hands an average of 100+ times a day easy. I used to carry a tube of Sally Hansen 18 Hour Protective Hand Creme. It was awesome! It keep my hands from chapping, smelled like tangerines on a summer day, and felt like...well...sex for your hands. Then one day I couldn't find it at my local Walmart or anywhere else. Gone was my lovely lotion...GONE! I found it several years later on Ebay (I've seen it on Amazon too) and have been ordering it there for the past few years (at 2-3 times what I used to pay for it!). Now back to present day...I open the VoxBox and see this Sally Hansen 24 Hour Moisture Nails & Cuticles Hand Creme, it kind of reminds me of my old lotion. It is the very first thing I try out of the VoxBox. It feels the same (maybe better), it smells the same (maybe slightly lighter in scent), and it works even better! WOO HOO!
Last but not least, Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Red-y Response. I bought a set (8) knock off brand magnetics for my girls to play with when I found some for $2.99 each and each one came with a different magnet but I haven't played with any myself so I'm not sure how this compares to other magnetic polishes. It went on pretty smooth, dried quickly, and coated perfectly in one coat. I say this retail for $9.99 in store which strikes me a bit high but I've paid more for polish before so who am I to say.
Hope you all enjoyed this review and possibly even added some of these items to your shopping list! Much Love, The Dragon Lady
