Week 16: Dotticure Mani

For the 52 Week's challenge I am a bit behind, so I figured i'd just use the polish from my previous post for my Week 16: Dotticure Mani. If you missed my last post I used two coats of Sinful Colors Zeus over a nail treatment base coat and topped it with Barielle Ultra Speed Dry Top Coat. Since I am behind on the 52 Week Challenge manis I thought this color would provide a good base for the Dotticure mani I needed to do. Here's my inspiration for this mani from Polish Amor.

I used my dotting tools to dot on Sally Hansen hard to Tell (shimmery, pearl white) randomly half way to 2/3 the way down my nails. I kind of like it, sort of reminds me of a purple spotted egg or something. I am thinking about a dot-gradient next time.

Week 15: Easter Mani

For this week's challenge, the Easter mani, I decided to use the mani I did for my almost 12 year old daughter (her b-day is on Tuesday). She loved the little chickies but also wanted an accent nail with a bunny. Her nails are pretty small so I was worried about tried to fit a bunny with his ears on there, but hey, sometimes you just have to say, " I can always take it off and start over if I screw it up!" LOL! I think they turned out pretty cute and she absolutely LOVES them!

We painted her nails with 3 coats Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow and 2 coats China Glaze Bahamian Escape on the accent nail. For the chickies I used Wet n Wild Black creme (eyes) and Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up (toes/beaks). for the bunny I used Konad stamping polish in white (for it's opaqueness factor). I was actually able to just brush on the half circle face and ears. I then used China Glaze Dance Baby and my dotting tool for the nose and inner ears, and again used the Wet N Wild Black Creme for the eyes. I also used the dotting tool and Konad white to finish up the eyes. I then coated it all in Seche Vite - I did wait about a minute for the nail art to "dry" a bit so the Seche wouldn't smear it.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I will leave you with this cute bunny pic I found the other day.

Happy Easter!

Week 14: Striped Mani

Sunlight

I didn't want some thing mellow for this weeks' challenge of a striped mani. I wanted something sparkly as I have been sick and it's been nasty, extremely windy and rainy for the last several days. Basically I needed a pick me up. So here it is...Glitter + skittles = Glittles! I challenge to say Glittles without cracking a smile! Seriously!! Here's my Glittles striped mani. ;)

Light Box

For this I used one good coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme added 3 stripes with some striping tape, then used 2-3 quick coats of Love and Beauty Turquoise (thumb), Nubar Sky Sparkle (index), Nubar Violet Sparkle (middle), Milani Purple Gleam (ring), and Nubar Star Sparkle (pinky) and quickly removed the tape. Added two coats of Seche Vite to smooth out the stripes and now I can't stop staring at them!

So it worked, this Glittles mani totally picked up my mood but I wish it hadn't turned out so thick! It was raining earlier when I did this mani, so I was super bummed about not getting photos of this in the sun. Then from down the hall I hear my oldest yell, "Mom, grab your camera and go take your pictures...sun's out!" We'll make a nail blogger outta her yet! ;) If you're wondering why there is a white backdrop for these pics too, it's our minivan. LOL!

Sadly, not even those pics in the sun do justice to the sparkle going down on my nails right now. Don't forget to check out my fellow challengers listed below! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

Week 13 - Ruffian Mani

This will be a quick post. This is my first Ruffian mani and I decided to use some of the new polish I got in a recent haul (haul post next). For this I used 3 coats of Jesse's Girl Midori (so not impressed with the formula on this one - thin & streaky, even after plenty of dry time between layers). Then I free-handed one coat Wet n Wild Black Creme over it in Ruffian fashion. Once this was dry I added Forever Beauty Green. Such a plain name for such a pretty glitter.

Since I am in the process of reorganizing and moving my polish and nail supplies I couldn't remember where I put my french tip guides so I could use those for the ruffian but free-hand didn't turn out too bad. I'll have to try this with different polish and those guides once I find them. Oh and if you couldn't tell...I managed to rip off almost all my nails down to the quick this weekend.  =(

Week 12 - Skittles Mani

I was having trouble deciding what type of skittle mani to do today. The choices were metallic skittles, neon skittles, or glitter skittles. The hubs didn't have a favorite but my oldest and youngest daughter both picked neon so here we go...

For this mani I used 3 coats of the following: Color Club Warhol, Color Club Wham! Pow!, China Glaze Celtic Sun (Neon), Cosmetic Arts neon green, and Cosmetic Arts neon blue.

I then decided it still needed something but I was too lazy to stamp anything (still in a shamrock stamp coma) so I decided I would add some of that unnamed glitter franken (made with multi-sized silver holo & white iridescent glitter).

Week 11 - "St. Patrick's Day" Mani

For this week's year long nail art challenge, I decided to do something kind of simple because I am exhausted and I also plan to get in several more St. Patrick's Day manicures in this week before St. Patty's Day on Saturday. Being an Irish girl, this is one of my favorite holidays! I used 2 coats Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenaged Witch and 2 coats of one of my new frankens, Emerald Isles (med & large green hex glitter with green micro in clear base).

I am loving how GREEN and sparkly this is. I did this mani after the sun went down here, I hope the sun will poke through tomorrow so I can get some shot of this in the sun.

I thought I'd use one of my new shamrock shaped nail art confetti to add that little something Irish to my accent nail. I opted for the silver holographic one.

I also decided to toss on a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust for more sparkle.

So, what does everyone have planned for St. Patty's Day? I am taking my daughter to her softball practice then coming home for some yummy corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes probably served up with some hot, fresh sweet french bread. Then....probably some drinking after the kids are in bed! ;)

Week 10 - Polka Dot Mani

Still trying to play catch up on this year long challenge. Here's last week's challenge of a Polka Dot Mani. This didn't turn out quite how I wanted it or how I pictured it in my head but I still liked it and the longer I wore it the more it grew on me.

For this mani I used 2 coats of Orly Au Champagne then began dotting on Color Club In Bloom (pink), China Glaze Peachy Keen (peach/orange), some unknown Sinful Colors (yellow), Color Club Twiggie (green), China Glaze For Audrey (blue), and Revlon Charming (purple).

I then proceeded to repeat the process on the next 4 rows but moved the first color to the back after each one.

I thought it still needed something so I topped it off with one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust, my favorite ultra fine holographic glitter top coat.

Hope you enjoyed this one! Much Love, The Dragon Lady
