Week 14: Striped Mani

Sunlight

I didn't want some thing mellow for this weeks' challenge of a striped mani. I wanted something sparkly as I have been sick and it's been nasty, extremely windy and rainy for the last several days. Basically I needed a pick me up. So here it is...Glitter + skittles = Glittles! I challenge to say Glittles without cracking a smile! Seriously!! Here's my Glittles striped mani. ;)

Light Box

For this I used one good coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme added 3 stripes with some striping tape, then used 2-3 quick coats of Love and Beauty Turquoise (thumb), Nubar Sky Sparkle (index), Nubar Violet Sparkle (middle), Milani Purple Gleam (ring), and Nubar Star Sparkle (pinky) and quickly removed the tape. Added two coats of Seche Vite to smooth out the stripes and now I can't stop staring at them!

So it worked, this Glittles mani totally picked up my mood but I wish it hadn't turned out so thick! It was raining earlier when I did this mani, so I was super bummed about not getting photos of this in the sun. Then from down the hall I hear my oldest yell, "Mom, grab your camera and go take your pictures...sun's out!" We'll make a nail blogger outta her yet! ;) If you're wondering why there is a white backdrop for these pics too, it's our minivan. LOL!

Sadly, not even those pics in the sun do justice to the sparkle going down on my nails right now. Don't forget to check out my fellow challengers listed below! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

Untried Tuesday: Nubar Star Sparkle

For this week's Untried Tuesday I chose Nubar Star Sparkle. I have been wanting to swatch this since I got it a few months ago but for some reason kept passing it over for something else. I'm not sure why. This is 2 coats over my frankened nail treatments. Probably would have been completely opaque in 3 or 4 coats. This had so much sparkle I was wishing the was sunlight here. The formula on this was very smooth, I wish more glitters went on this easy.

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 6

LOL, I just saw 4 other bloggers posting St. Patty's Day manis a bit late...at least it's not just me! Anyway, this one is simple but extremely sparkly! I started off with one coat of Nubar Greener.

Then added two coats of Sinful Colors Call You Later and a coat of Seche Vite.

Man this one was sparkly! I didn't want to take it off, just sit a stare at it. LOL! Only a few more left...you guys sick of green yet? ;)

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 3

Here's a quick and simple one. I started with two coats of Nubar Reclaim medium green with light holo-ness) added one coat of Pot O' Gold (a franken) because there just wasn't any sunlight here to bring out the holo in Reclaim. I then added one coat of Sally Hansen Set the Stage and topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Valentine's Mani - part 5

Second to last Valentine's Day themed mani and so far my favorite! This one is an anti-valentine's mani! For this one I used Orly Au Champagne, Nubar Fire Sparkle (ring finger), Queen of Hearts (a franken - on thumb), and Konad Special Polish in black and red. I also used the following plates: SE18, BM-02, BM-03, BM-11, RA100, OB5, m13.

I will post the mani I am officially wearing for Valentine's Day later this afternoon.

Happy Valentine's Day all! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

Nubar Violet Sparkle

So I decided to start swatching some of my recently purchased Nubar Sparkles. The first one up is Violet Sparkle and to quote my oldest daughter, "OMG! That is the most awesome purple EVER!!!" I will tell you hat although I managed to capture the shade of purple fairly well, the pictures still don't quite capture all the AMAZING sparkle in this polish.

I thought about swatching this over another color but decided just to use it on it's own. The pictures here show 4 coats of Violet Sparkle and two coats of Seche Vite. The formula on this was very nice and smooth, not thick like I was expecting. It covered well a one coat for a glittery top coat, pretty solid at two coats, almost completely opaque at three coats, and "bottle" sparkle at four. This polish was fairly smooth before I added the Seche Vite for drying speed. I added to second coat of Seche to add a bit more shine to it.

I am officially in LOVE with this polish and it just may have taken the number 1 spot on my favorite purple list. I have had this on for two days now and I literally can NOT stop staring at my nails...even while driving (BAD DRAGON LADY!!).

I would have posted this yesterday but I basically laid down and passed around 8:30pm last night. I am hoping to swatch another one of these gorgeous Nubars a bit later and I got the last of the nail stuff I ordered just a few minutes ago so another Nail Mail post is coming soon too.

******************EDIT********************
Just took this polish off (2/5) and I have to say that for a glitter; the removal was actually pretty nice!

Nubar Greener Holo

I couldn't help it, after matting this mani earlier I started thinking about what else I could do to it. Then it hits me. BAM! I just got some spectraflair in the mail...Greener needs to be holo-cized! So here are some pics of Nubar Greener with a holographic top coat of my making and my very first spectraflair experiment ever.

Just check the fire on those inside pics, even the one with NO flash! I just knew it needed some sunlight shots!
