Easter Mani #4 - Easter Franken

No top coat

I decided I couldn't let a holiday go by without at least one franken in it's honor. So here's my franken, Robin Egg (you know as in the chocolate malted robin's egg candies). It has a light yellow creme base, with lavender and teal hex glitter, rose pink mini-hex glitter, pink holo bar glitter, and rose, lavender and teal micro glitter. Top two pictures are shown with two coats of Robin Egg without top coat, the bottom two are with (it's labeled). It was pretty opaque at one coat, could have probably gotten away it but then no glitter sammich effect. So two coats it was! ;)

Week 12 - Skittles Mani

I was having trouble deciding what type of skittle mani to do today. The choices were metallic skittles, neon skittles, or glitter skittles. The hubs didn't have a favorite but my oldest and youngest daughter both picked neon so here we go...

For this mani I used 3 coats of the following: Color Club Warhol, Color Club Wham! Pow!, China Glaze Celtic Sun (Neon), Cosmetic Arts neon green, and Cosmetic Arts neon blue.

I then decided it still needed something but I was too lazy to stamp anything (still in a shamrock stamp coma) so I decided I would add some of that unnamed glitter franken (made with multi-sized silver holo & white iridescent glitter).

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 8 - THE FAILS

Ok, now the FAIL St. Patty's Day manis. There are two. The first one is a semi-fail...ok in theory, fail in execution.

I used 2 coats of Wet 'n Wild Black Creme, Emerald Isle (franken, 1 coat on accent), and a plain green glitter franken (no name) on the tips.

Fail #2: Totally FAIL. It looked good in my head but apparently got demented in the translation? ROFL. Not sure what I was thinking but this is definitely NOT it. Uggh.

Ok, I also need to say 2 things....
One, look at the polish, see the name, see the color...How is that Lime Green? Just saying!
Two, my nails are stained green from this polish, it goes on smooth, kind of on the runny side, but my biggest issue is stainage. Dragon Lady says GRRR! at stainage! Ok, thanks for listening to my mini-rant. ;)

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 7

Ok, this post if my mother's nails that I did today. I did a set of gels (we are trying out a new kind on her, I might try it out myself for S & G too- not sure yet). Then did a quick franken to suit her wishes and painted her nails.

This is two coats of franken, St. Patti. No I didn't typo that. My mother's name is Patricia, she goes by Patti, I made it for her & it's St. Patty's Day...hence the name. ;) I topped this off with some medium green holographic shamrocks and set her out to party!

Hope your St. Patty's was awesome! Coming up next, my last St. Patty's post (at least this year)....the FAILS! LOL! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 5

This one is similar to the one in part 3 but I used a different green and a different glitter, then mattified it. Mmm, mattified glitter. This is two coats of China Glaze Gaga for Green:

...topped with one coat of  Emerald Isle (franken):

...and one coat of LA Girl Glitter Addict Synergy.

I finished this with one coat of Seche Vite and the China Glaze Matte Magic once it was dry.

To be honest, I liked the mani with the green glitter, thought I had ruined it with the gold holo glitter, but here at the finish all matted...I really like it. Go figure! LOL! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 4

Alrighty, onto the next St. Patty's mani! This one is 2 coats of Wet 'n Wild black Creme topped with 2 coats of Black Irish, another of my St. Patty's Day themed frankens! Black Irish is a translucent black base with green holo shred, small green hex glitter, and green micro glitter.

And for those wondering what Black Irish means, it is a term used to describe the "other" Irish (as opposed to the classic stereotyped pale-skinned, freckled, red-head *cough* me *cough* ). The dark-haired, fair-skinned, green (or blue) eyed Irish person. It can also mean dark-hair, brown eyes, and dark complexion but I have only heard it in reference to the black hair/ green eye combo.

If you can't tell it was really hard to capture the fire in this mani, I think this last picture is the best attempted but still falls short. Much Love, The Dragon Lady

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 1

I hope everyone's St. Patty's Day is treating them well! I spent most of the day at my mother's in another town doing her nails for a St. Patty's Day/Birthday Party she had to go to. I will post her nails at the end of this series. currently, I am happily stuffed with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots and sipping on a Midori Sour (YUM! What? Yes, I know it's not "Irish" but it is green and yummy, besides the Irish Cream comes AFTER the kids are asleep).

Sorry I didn't get a chance to get these all posted earlier today or during the week but better late than never right? So I have several for you and a couple of FAILS in my opinion. I think I will post them as I go rather than doing one huge post with them all.

On to the first, this is one of my St. Patty's frankens, Irish Cream, over Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet. I used two coats of each.

Then I decided to stamp on top with image plate BM-03 using Konad special polish in dark green.

Hope you enjoyed this one, the next is on the way! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

Week 11 - "St. Patrick's Day" Mani

For this week's year long nail art challenge, I decided to do something kind of simple because I am exhausted and I also plan to get in several more St. Patrick's Day manicures in this week before St. Patty's Day on Saturday. Being an Irish girl, this is one of my favorite holidays! I used 2 coats Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenaged Witch and 2 coats of one of my new frankens, Emerald Isles (med & large green hex glitter with green micro in clear base).

I am loving how GREEN and sparkly this is. I did this mani after the sun went down here, I hope the sun will poke through tomorrow so I can get some shot of this in the sun.

I thought I'd use one of my new shamrock shaped nail art confetti to add that little something Irish to my accent nail. I opted for the silver holographic one.

I also decided to toss on a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust for more sparkle.

So, what does everyone have planned for St. Patty's Day? I am taking my daughter to her softball practice then coming home for some yummy corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes probably served up with some hot, fresh sweet french bread. Then....probably some drinking after the kids are in bed! ;)

Fav or Franken Friday

Sunlight
For this Fav or Franken Friday, I wanted something sparklie today as it was the first time I really saw the sun this week where I'm at. I chose to use 2 coats Color Club Worth the Risque (a fav) and top it with one coat of my franken, Love @ First Sight. So I guess this week you get both a fav and a franken. I liked how this turned out but I wish the holo of Worth the Risque was a little stronger.
