Going Gold for Silas

Yesterday, I read an article about a brave young boy named Silas who lives in eastern Georgia and has a disease that cannot be cured. You can read the full article here. Silas is 4-years old and has Hepatoblastoma, a rare liver cancer. He has been told he only has a few days to live and his one wish? To have people, everywhere, paint their nails gold in awareness for childhood cancer. So I'm going gold for Silas and I hope you will too!

You can submit your Going Gold for Silas nail photos here or send them to photos@11alive.com. Silas' story is not the only one I read yesterday. Through the Praying for Silas Facebook page I learned about Adain, Harlee, and Micah. Let's show Silas, Adain, Harlee, Micah and all of the other children fighting childhood cancer, that they do not fight alone!

A simple Facebook like could brighten these kids' day and show them that just one more person out there cares. Feel free to add links to other pages in the comments below, we need to spread support and love to as many children as we can.

This seriously hits home for me on a personal level. I used to work in both the Oncology & Pediatric wings of my local hospital and have work with some wonderful kids. As many of you know, I am also the mother of three beautiful girls, ages 13, 10, and 3. My heart aches for these families and what they are going through.

Much love to you all, The Dragon Lady

Orly Sashay My Way

Today's polish is Orly Sashay My Way from their new Flash Glam FX Collection. Sashay My Way is holographic yellow toned gold bar and medium sized hexagon glitter polish in a clear base. Okay, I admit that I was a bit biased going into this one. I really don't do the whole yellow gold thing. I don't even slap it on for Christmas. I'm more of a silver girl. My mom still thinks it's weird because gold matches my redheaded complexion far better. That said, I LOVE this polish. I mean hello bling! Sadly, it was extremely hard to capture all the fire going on in this polish. So take what you see in the pictures and multiply it by 10. Here is Orly Sashay My Way one coat over a black creme topped with one coat of Gelous.  As for application it was pretty easy, did have to place a few glitter but not as much as Be Brave. Glitter stayed down pretty flat too, I hit it with a coat of Gelous anyways.

In my last post you saw that I managed to score Orly's new glitter collection from Sally Beauty. I decided to sample them before I choose my vacay mani and wow. Just wow! I couldn't believe how sparklie these were I just had to post some pics. I am going to attempt to squeeze the time to swatch these all over black before I go and use them as posts while I'm in Fort Bragg. So on to more pics!

On the nails, 2 coats of polish no undies. On rings, one coat over black. I haven't finished the rings I am making from this collection yet (still need to set stone) but keep an eye out for them either in a future giveaway or on Etsy or both. Hubby has been bugging me to do something to pay for this addiction to polish, LOL!

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 7

Ok, this post if my mother's nails that I did today. I did a set of gels (we are trying out a new kind on her, I might try it out myself for S & G too- not sure yet). Then did a quick franken to suit her wishes and painted her nails.

This is two coats of franken, St. Patti. No I didn't typo that. My mother's name is Patricia, she goes by Patti, I made it for her & it's St. Patty's Day...hence the name. ;) I topped this off with some medium green holographic shamrocks and set her out to party!

Hope your St. Patty's was awesome! Coming up next, my last St. Patty's post (at least this year)....the FAILS! LOL! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 6

LOL, I just saw 4 other bloggers posting St. Patty's Day manis a bit late...at least it's not just me! Anyway, this one is simple but extremely sparkly! I started off with one coat of Nubar Greener.

Then added two coats of Sinful Colors Call You Later and a coat of Seche Vite.

Man this one was sparkly! I didn't want to take it off, just sit a stare at it. LOL! Only a few more left...you guys sick of green yet? ;)

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 5

This one is similar to the one in part 3 but I used a different green and a different glitter, then mattified it. Mmm, mattified glitter. This is two coats of China Glaze Gaga for Green:

...topped with one coat of  Emerald Isle (franken):

...and one coat of LA Girl Glitter Addict Synergy.

I finished this with one coat of Seche Vite and the China Glaze Matte Magic once it was dry.

To be honest, I liked the mani with the green glitter, thought I had ruined it with the gold holo glitter, but here at the finish all matted...I really like it. Go figure! LOL! Much Love, The Dragon Lady

More St. Patrick's Day Manis - Part 3

Here's a quick and simple one. I started with two coats of Nubar Reclaim medium green with light holo-ness) added one coat of Pot O' Gold (a franken) because there just wasn't any sunlight here to bring out the holo in Reclaim. I then added one coat of Sally Hansen Set the Stage and topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

More Christmas manis *PIC HEAVY*

I had a Christmas party to go to so I needed to do something festive with my nails but didn't have very long to do it as I was running behind after doing my oldest two daughter's nails for their upcoming holiday trip with the grandparents. So I opted just to do a red and green mani with lots of sparkle but no glitter that way I can play with it a bit more later. I choose to paint my ring finger and my thumb Orly Rock-It (just the accent nail didn't seem festive enough, LOL) and the remaining three fingers Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. I used two coats of Rock-It and three coats of Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. Then topped them all of with a coat of Seche Vite to speed things along.

These are picture of my daughter's manis, both used my franken, Reindeer Poop, because it explodes with festive, Christmasy colored glitter, and their favorite part...it smells like peppermint candy cane. I keep catching them sniffing their fingers and then I get, "What?.....It smells good." LOL

I used three coats of Reindeer Poop on both the girls' manis because they didn't want to use a base color, I only needed one coat over white for my previous mani.
